The Power of Emotions in Spiritual Growth: Season 2 Reflections

We have been thinking (and talking) all about emotions lately. In season one, we learned how love can transform every area of our lives - relationships, our bodies, minds and spirits, and how there is just so much power in love. Other emotions seem to be no different.

Esther and Jerry Hicks have dedicated most of their professional lives around the study of emotions and how they can create momentum or barriers in our day-to-day. Our souls are always creating and manifesting, which can translate into desire and inspiration in human form.

Exactly how do we get what our soul is dreaming of? We follow desire and we use the Hick’s river analogy. If we are feeling any negative feelings, we are going upstream and therefore against the current and flow of life. This is the single most important sign that you are not in alignment with your soul’s desire. Now, on the flip side, if you are feeling good - excited, happy, enthusiastic, joyful - these are the moments you are a vibrational match for your soul's manifestations which are sitting in “escrow” just waiting for you.

But what if you feel bummed out all the time? Then what? Well, you can leverage the focus wheel to slowly and gradually get your low vibrational emotions to a place of neutrality, contentment, and eventually peace. The bottom line: if you feel good, good things will happen and life should flow like it’s supposed to.

We also talked a lot about Power vs Force and how, through kinesiology, we have a scale of consciousness that we can reference. How do we know that there’s any energetic or vibrational difference between anger and happiness? Through years of clinical, spiritual, and academic research. Forcing means to lead with the ego - to manipulate and control the circumstances (and people) of life. But to lead from the heart - to trust and let love and compassion lead the way, well that’s POWER. We can either add power to the stream, or we can continue to force our way upstream. We don’t know about you, but we are tired, man. Floating down the river to our dreams and divine destiny sounds much more pleasant and in alignment with our canoeing abilities.

We also talked a lot about emotional vulnerability. Brene Brown ran so we could fly. In Episode 10 we dive deep into how vulnerability has paved the way for our own healing, our own freedom, and our own courage to say the things our hearts and souls want to say. We talk about the liberation of being authentically you and how if you’re unwaveringly YOU, that you will attract the right people into your life. The type of people who adore you, embrace you and cherish you. On the other side of vulnerability is emotional and spiritual confidence and freedom. Let’s all lean into that.

We had our first guest (hi Lenora!), a Psychosematic Therapist who so beautifully explained how trauma is stored in the body. Trapped or unprocessed trauma (emotional or physical) can leave us wounded. Through this revolutionary method of therapy, we can release those wounds and profoundly heal the deepest parts of ourselves. We discuss Lenora’s thoughts on what emotions are and even how the really “bad ones” aren’t so bad after all. They are teachers. They are illuminators. They are what lead us to the parts of our spirit that need the most love and attention.

Lastly, we discuss the 7 primary energy centers in the body known as “chakras.” Chakras have a heavy influence on our physical, emotional and spiritual selves.  In this two part episode, we learned (and laughed) all about our over and under active energy centers. Spoiler alert: we both have over active throat chakras. Surprise, surprise. We gotta lot to say and we are going to say it! We discuss how learning more about these energy centers is almost like a crystal ball into our inner emotional worlds: what might need a little more attention? Self confidence? Your spiritual connection? Your ability to feel secure and grounded? What about creativity?  Be sure to take the quiz and reference our Chakras Guide to learn more.

As we reflect on season two we feel now, more than ever, we are living out our purpose. The excitement, enthusiasm and joy around building the Spirit Outspoken community feels so right. We are so thankful for every person who listens, comments and texts us to let us know how these episodes are helping you heal and grow spiritually. Let’s keep learning, healing, and laughing together.

Stay tuned for season 3.

Lots of love.
